Cley Windmill and Cromer Wedding photography by North Norfolk wedding photographer, Nic Skerten.
Well there was quite a bit of travelling around for their North Norfolk wedding of two of the nicest people I’ve met in a long time. I’d first met Clare and Dom when I did their pre-wedding shoot in early May in the bluebells at Blickling Wood with their little dog Beryl.
The day started at The Blakeney Hotel for Clare and Dom’s preparations. Them it was a quick drive over to Cley Windmill where Clara and Dom were having their ceremony with a few of their closest friends and family. Ceremonies at Cley Windmill are held in the bottom room which is, of course, circular and guests sit on sofas and armchairs – it really is a unique and probably the smallest wedding ceremony venues in the country.
After the ceremony I took Clare and Dom up to the windmill balcony just below the sails for some photographs of the two of them together – although we didn’t stay up there all that long as the wind was quite strong and chilly!
After afternoon tea it was then a hop across to Cromer where Clare and Dom had asked if we could get some photographs of them with their guests on the pier. As you will be able to see from the images below it was a wee bit windy and chilly enough to keep most sensible people off the pier – so we had it virtually to ourselves.
Now the only pictures, other than the group shots the couple specify, I will ever setup or arrange in any way are those of the bride and groom together. Even these are done with a lot of fun and laughs. Although I am a documentary photographer at heart I am always more than happy to take specific images of couples when requested. With the aid of a couple of their guests I managed to get some nice “dress flick” images as a change.
We all rapidly exited the pier as the wind was getting stronger and headed to the Rocket House Cafe, a favourite of Clare and Dom’s, where the reception was going to be.
These are a few of my favourites from the day.
